Mysore, 23rd December 2024

With the end of 2024 nearing, so does one of my dream, come to it’s end. Only to take form in the real world. “The Local Daily”. It sounds like a newspaper but it isn’t. It feels like a corporate structure trying to feed the herd but it isn’t. Now that the precedent is set, I can keep the listing the things it shouldn’t be as per my vision, but I cannot decide for myself if I am to do justice to the organisation it should be, not while I am writing this nor should anyone be capable of doing it in the future.

The organisation although beginning only with one, shall grow and conquer while creating enough through its various endeavours and escapades it shall decide to take.

What The Local Daily promises is neither just information nor mere entertainment. It’s a space for stories that truly matter, for narratives that have been sidelined, for voices that deserve amplification.

The Local Daily is born at a time when the world feels fragmented yet deeply interconnected. It seeks to capture the rhythm of global communities, the vibrant hues of cultural festivals, the quiet strength of ordinary people, and the stories etched across diverse landscapes. As we look forward to the new year, we choose to focus on resilience, celebration, and the power of collective action—qualities that unite us all, regardless of where we come from.

This endeavour, while still in its infancy, is fueled by a simple yet powerful belief: that the local is universal. The stories that emerge from the bylanes of Mysore, or any small town for that matter, hold the essence of human existence. They are raw, they are real, and they are relevant. It is here that we begin—from the grassroots, with an unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics and creative exploration.

The Local Daily aspires to be more than a publication. It aims to be a platform that inspires change, fosters understanding, and ignites curiosity. We will experiment, we will fail, and we will learn—but we will never lose sight of our purpose. Whether it’s a feature on a local artist redefining traditions, an exposé on policies affecting marginalized communities, or a reflective piece on the intersection of technology and humanity—every word published will be deliberate, and every voice featured will be valued.

As I pen this inaugural letter, I want to reflect on the principles that will guide The Local Daily. At its heart, this organization is a space where dialogue thrives, where diverse perspectives come together, and where the power of storytelling is harnessed to illuminate, challenge, and inspire. This letter is not about proclaiming a vision but about laying the first stone of a collective effort—one that values depth over breadth, action over rhetoric, and connection over division.

Let’s progress with a commitment to fostering diversity, uncovering stories that push boundaries, and nurturing an environment where creativity thrives and connections are forged.

With gratitude and anticipation,

Mihir Mittal
